Opened to the public in July 2015 and nestled within the verdant hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, the Maleny Golf Club’s quality, 18-hole course provides visitors with a picturesque, links-style ‘golf as it began’ playing experience.
The innovative design by golf architect Graham Papworth, takes full advantage of some excellent natural assets – gentle rolling hills, well-drained volcanic soil, existing kikuyu pastures, surrounding rainforest and some wetland.
The course has been built to a high standard by a team of dedicated volunteers under the direction of Course Superintendent Mick McCombe, using the latest agronomic technology and knowhow to construct the Tifdwarf greens.
Two shipping containers have been cleverly combined to provide a rustic, temporary HQ which enhances the overall visitor experience.

Maleny Golf Course & Club
21 August 2023This course is spectacular on the eye and was in top condition leading up to club championships. The greens were immaculate , ran true and not for the feint hearted. The course makes the golfer smile at every turn as there is entrapment aplenty , so conservative shots are often rewarded for landing on the fairways, although the topography coaxes one to have a go! We have played this course many times and it just doesn't disappoint. The course has a very interesting layout with several blind shots so getting a map is advisable. Whilst walking the course gives a memorable experience with nature and the local flora and fauna, get a cart unless you have moderate to good fitness levels. It is a challenge from the daunting opening hole 1 to the equally daunting closing hole at 18. In between there is plenty of amusement to be had, especially when playing in a group. Be sure to pack plenty of laughter as this is a fun course. The clubhouse whilst not flash and haughty offers a wonderful view from the verandah and allows the golfer to reflect on what might have been whilst observing those who are yet to master this hinterland gem. The staff are very friendly and happy to offer advice before tee off and commiserations and empathy at the end of the round! A great experience worth the laughs.
